The Day Shall Come 2019 Full Movie English Subtitles

“The Day Shall Come” is a satirical film that follows a small-time preacher who unwittingly becomes the target of an FBI sting operation. It’s a rollercoaster of absurdity, featuring confused revolutionaries, a particularly clueless FBI agent, and lots of fast-paced humor. In essence, the film lampoons the absurdity of America’s domestic anti-terror efforts while also making us laugh at ourselves.

Review

It is with great pleasure that I bring to your attention the wittily satirical film, “The Day Shall Come”, directed by Chris Morris. This comedic masterpiece tells a story of an impoverished preacher, Moses (Marchánt Davis), who has absurd and unpredictable beliefs about the world. The movie plays on the face of serious themes like poverty, racism and prejudice, but in the most light-hearted way possible.

Set in Miami, Florida- a city known for tropical weather and sandy beaches- this film takes us on a wild ride as we follow Moses and his small band of followers known as “The Star of Six” who are targeted by an FBI undercover operation for plotting terrorism. The energetic cast brings their characters to life with each line and action that makes the audience feel like they too are part of the explosive comedy.

Written by Jesse Armstrong and Morris himself, actors in the movie deliver what might just be some of the most hilarious lines in Hollywood history. From Simone (Danielle Brooks) casually admitting that she doesn’t know how to read to Reza (Kayvan Novak) saying he’s from Iran while showing his Arabic passport. Each moment is crafted to keep you rolling on your back while watching.

The plot is gripping from start to finish as we watch the tense relationship between Moses and Agent Kendra Glack (Anna Kendrick) unfold as they work together for what seems like a common goal- stopping terrorism. We see their partnership crumble under pressure as they try to achieve their individual objectives.

One cannot mention “The Day Shall Come” without commending its filming style which feels organic and real making it hard not end up lost into its universe. Alex Marshall does an amazing job capturing all moments with her cinematography- giving us colourful shots that capture each character’s emotion perfectly.

The soundtrack is another feature worth noting; it was composed by Andrew Hewitt- whose score complements every scene impeccably well. The music is soothing and refreshing, making you want to dance your way into the cinema each time.

The characters are greatly crafted and each person brings something unique to the table. We watch as Moses goes through a personal relationship crisis with his wife Venus (Danielle Vitalis) who undergoes a mental breakdown leaving him alone with his faith.

As we watch this film, Morris makes sure to touch on significant themes about America’s government operations and how we look at terrorism in today’s society. While watching, you can’t help but confront these powerful themes put forth in the most humorous way possible.

The film premiered at South by Southwest on March 11, 2019 to quite favourable reviews from critics who praised its story structure, writing style and perfect acting by all its casts. This film was sure to become another cult classic after previous works like ‘Four Lions’ which received much love from fans around the world.

Some critics have argued that “The Day Shall Come” lacks substance or that it doesn’t bring anything new or innovative to the table- but I beg to differ. This movie shakes things up by showing us that even upstanding agencies like the FBI can make foolish decisions due to their incompetence and prejudice while still being hilarious.

With powerful scenes such as when Agent Kendra Glack gives Moses a gun filled with blanks while giving him instructions on how to shoot it just for reality television’s sake further highlights my point above. The storyline is authentic, and every scene plays an important role in creating an immersive experience for viewers.

In conclusion, “The Day Shall Come” is a must-watch for all who seek comedy with substance. A funny movie that takes itself seriously enough when it needs to be is hard to come by- so when one does come around- it deserves all the attention it gets. Watch it and you won’t regret it!
