The movie begins with three middle-aged friends Lou(Dan Aykroyd), Adam(John Cusack), and Nick(Craig Robinson) planning a trip to the winter resort of Kodiak Valley to overcome their mid-life crises and rekindle their old friendship. They invite Adam’s socially awkward nephew Jacob(Clark Duke) along for company.
The group reaches the dilapidated hotel they used to frequent twenty years ago, and after a night of heavy drinking in the resort’s hot tub, they discover that it has been transformed into a literal time machine.
